The film documents a unique painting collaboration by male artists from five art centres on the Canning Stock Route Project’s ‘return to Country’ trip in 2007. The painting Kunawarritji to Wajaparni was created at Well 36 and this film shows the cultural and artistic negotiations between artists Charlie Wallabi Tjungurrayi, Patrick Tjungurrayi, Peter Tinker, Helicopter Tjungurrayi, Richard Yukenbarri Tjakamarra, Clifford Brooks, Putuparri Tom Lawford and the late Jeffrey James, which led to its creation. Rather than painting the line of the stock route, the artists paint the waterholes that became wells within a broader cross-section of the Country to explain their ancestral connections
